A Purchaser
How do changes in steel pricing affect my purchase price of a stamping or assembly?
Many of the issues of Minimum Order Quanty (MOQ) and pricing are handling in the quoting process, but generally speaking, we follow the quarterly CRU index. Where customer volume permits, we order on a quarterly basis and only adjust pricing for the change in material pricing. When the customer volumes don’t merit purchasing an entire master coil, we will follow the spot market, which is less stable in terms of pricing and availability. But Jordan Manufacturing has a deep pool of vendors and steel service centers in the west Michigan area which allows us to mitigate that risk. All raw materials at Jordan Manufacting have a reorder system based on past performance and customer forecasts to protect your supply chain.
What is a good minimum quantity for design and build verification, and how do we manage additional requirements if the tests require it?
Jordan Manufacturing follows AIAG PPAP IV requirements, but also works with customers who may have their own standards for design and build verification. Most of this is agreed upon during the quoting or APQP process, but we strive for flexibility. We know that our parts are part of a larger product and that issues with mating parts means we have to be ready to provide more parts to resolve issues elsewhere.
How long does it take to get a quote?
The speed of a quote depends on the complexity of the build, but for a part or assembly of moderate complexity, you can expect a turnaround time of about 5-7 working days. You can find more on the Engineer page.
